70 polling stations in Lakki declared most sensitive

LAKKI MARWAT: Police have declared 39 polling stations as sensitive and 70 as most sensitive for the upcoming general elections in the district.

Election Commission of Pakistan has established 394 polling stations in the district to facilitate 421,224 voters including 236,162 men and 185,062 women to exercise their right of franchise.

In PK-91, 60 polling stations have been set up for men, 55 for women and 32 are combined polling stations with 262 male and 203 female polling booths in them for 82,297 male and 67,585 female voters.

The ECP has also set up 60 male, 55 female and 25 combined polling stations with 253 male and 183 female polling booths in them for 83,423 men and 67474 women voters in PK-92. In PK-93, a total of 107 polling stations have been set up that include 29 for men, 26 for women and 52 combined with 199 male and 140 female polling booths in them for 70,433 male and 50,003 female voters.

A police official said that a foolproof security plan was devised to ensure peaceful elections in the district. He said that additional policemen would be deployed at the sensitive and most sensitive polling stations to avert any untoward incident.

DPO Asif Gohar chaired a meeting at his office to review security arrangements for polling. The meeting discussed matters pertaining to dearth of police manpower, existing strength of police force and deployment of cops at polling stations. The DPO said that police would not let anyone to challenge the writ of state. He said that no one would be allowed to disturb peace.

Mr Gohar said that police would ban display of weapons and firing in the air. He directed the subordinate police officials to extend all out support to the administration and ECP officials for implementation of election code of conduct.
