Whether inviting 'electables' in your party is a sign of mature pragmatism or a betrayal of lofty ideals is something that perhaps only the people can decide.
But for Imran Khan, the equation is simple. In an extensive interview with Dawn, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief states:
After 1997, I came to the conclusion that unless we took people in the party who know the art of winning election, we will not be able to succeed.
He is also adamant that he hasn't compromised his ideals by awarding tickets to electables:
