Pakistan Stock Exchange extends losses as benchmark index sheds 107 points
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended losses into Thursday with the benchmark KSE-100 index losing 107 points to close at 40,239.
The index opened higher and peaked at 40,755 points before beginning to lose points to touch the day's low of 40,106 points mid-session.
In all, 143.2 million shares worth Rs4.98 billion were traded at the exchange. Of the 325 traded scrips,138 advanced, 153 declined and 34 remained unchanged.
The power generation and distribution sector dominated trading with 31.1m shares traded with K-Electric as the highest traded scrip.
Volumes were led by:
K-Electric Limited: 30.2m shares traded [+9.46pc];
Pakistan Intl. Bulk Terminal Ltd: 14.5m shares traded [+15.48pc];
Pak Elektron Ltd: 6.5m shares traded [-1.10pc];
Engro Polymer and Chemicals Ltd: 5.6m shares traded [+1.33pc];
Bank Of Punjab: 4.6m shares traded [+2.81pc].
