Official promises peace in Hazara during polls

ABBOTTABAD: Mohammad Alam Shinwari, the newly appointed regional police officer of Hazara, has said that all out efforts will be made to maintain peace and harmony during the forthcoming elections in the area.

Talking to journalists at his office here the other day, he said that police had no affiliation with anyone and would ensure neutrality at every level. He said that a task force would be formed to chalk out strategy for smooth flow of traffic in the city, especially in the coming days when electoral candidates would hold rallies and public meetings.

The RPO said that priority would be given to tourists, who wanted to visit the area without any hassle. He added that data was being compiled to point out sensitive polling stations for which close contacts and meetings were being arranged by the respective DPOs with the candidates to ensure implementation of the code of conduct. He showed complete satisfaction over the response of the candidates and political parties.

Mr Shinwari said that police had planned to install CCTV cameras at some sensitive points in different areas of Hazara division. He said that the cameras would be monitored round the clock from the control room. He asked people and media to keep close liaison with the local police to avert any untoward incident by troublemakers or violent worker s and supporters of the candidates. He said that police would maintain peace at any cost.
