Code of conduct violations will not be tolerated: Attock DPO
ATTOCK: Foolproof security arrangements will be made for the upcoming elections, and the police will not tolerate any violations of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) code of conduct, the Attock District Police Officer (DPO) Hassan Asad Alvi said.
He said the ECP has established 1,069 polling stations in Attock district, which will be secured by the Attock police. He told the press that 301 polling stations have been declared the ‘most sensitive’, 530 have been placed in category B – sensitive, and 238 are in category C – normal. Security arrangements have been planned accordingly.
Mr Alvi said he would supervise security himself while Attock Superintendent of Police Investigation Ahmed Mohiyuddin will accompany him.
Seven deputy superintendents of police, 14 inspectors, 260 upper subordinates, 300 head constables, 1,206 constables and 15 lady constables will perform security duties, while 23 elite sections containing 123 Elite commandoes will be deployed to prevent any untoward incident. In addition, 10 special reserves of the police, 3,050 constables and 1,030 members of the special police will also be deployed.
Mr Alvi said the leave of all officers and constables had been cancelled until the elections, and those on leave have been directed to report to headquarters immediately.
He said strict action would be taken against those who violate the ECP’s code of conduct.
A control room will be established at the DPO office, which will be active 24 hours a day and which citizens can report any code of conduct violations to.
He added that there were terrorism threats, but the Attock police was ready to accept any challenge from enemies of state, who would not be allowed to unleash terror through any nefarious activities.
Gamblers arrested
The Hazro police on Saturday busted a gambling den and arrested 13 gamblers and recovered the stake money.
A police team headed by SHO Hazro, Mehmood Butt, raided the den and arrested 13 people gambling on Rs35,000 and seized the money.
DPO Attock lauded the efforts of the team and vowed to eliminate this menace from the district.
Talking to mediapersons he reaffirmed his commitment to making Attock district a crime free zone.
