PTI candidate who used COAS, CJP's photos on campaign posters can contest elections, after all

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate Nasir Cheema, who landed in hot water earlier this month for using the pictures of the chief justice and the army chief in his campaign advertisements and posters, has been allowed to contest the July 25 polls.

The politician had been disqualified by the ECP for violating the electoral code of conduct after he failed to convince the commission with counterarguments — such as the posters had been "edited" or that they were "put up in solidarity" with Supreme Court judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan after unknown gunmen opened fire on his residence in April.

The high court overturned the ECP decision on a petition filed by Cheema today.
