Badin, Thar and other parts of Sindh receive rain
BADIN: Heavy monsoon showers brought a welcome change in the weather here in the district on Tuesday while Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Sujawal districts and many parts of Nagarparkar taluka in Thar received light to moderate rain.
In Badin, clouds gathered at around 5pm and a dust storm began followed by rain within a few minutes, which lasted for 20 minutes.
Electricity supply went off just a few minutes before the rain hit.
The worst-affected areas were low-lying ones, including Bhurgari Mohalla, Labour Colony, Gharibabad and Sarfraz Colony.
The rain also lashed the other towns of the district, including Tando Bago, Shadi Large, Khoski, Nindo Shahar, Golarchi, Kario Ganwhar, Khorwah and coastal villages. Farmers termed the rain a good omen.
Pangrio, Tando Bago, Malkani Sharif and other towns were blessed with the second spell of rains.
Many parts of Nagarparkar taluka, including the hilly town, received good rainfall intermittently, bringing smiles to peoples’ faces living in the desert region.
The moderate rainfall in the afternoon lasted for more than half an hour and turned the weather pleasant.
People came out of their homes to celebrate the downpour in their traditional manner.
Other parts of the desert also received light to moderate rain for the second consecutive day.
Mirpurkhas received an intermittent drizzle in the city and its outskirts, decreasing the temperature after a week-long severe heat spell.
People of the twin districts of Thatta and Sujawal heaved a sigh of relief as the moderate rain turned the weather pleasant.
