PM wants Mastung blast victims’ children adjusted in NAVTTC programmes

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Justice retired Nasirul Mulk on Tuesday directed the education and professional training ministry to accommodate youth from the families of victims of Mastung blast in skill training programmes to enable them to earn their livelihood.

The prime minster directed Minister for Education and Professional Training Mohammad Yusuf Sheikh who called on him at the PM Office to brief him about the working and achievements of the ministry.

Discussing the performance of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), a subsidiary of the education ministry, the prime minister asked the minister to accommodate maximum number of youth from the victim families of Mastung blast in the existing training programmes of NAVTTC.

Over 120 people were killed and more than 200 injured in a suicide blast in Mastung on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the caretaker minister informed the prime minster that the National Education Policy 2018 had been finalised and National Curriculum Council was being set up for the purpose of standardising curriculum across the country.

Similarly, the ministry had also developed a National Curriculum Framework which would serve as a model to bring uniformity in the curriculum.

Mr Sheikh said the new curriculum would be shared with the provinces so as to help them revise and update their textbooks.

A detailed presentation was made on the role of National Vocational and Technical Training Commission towards skill development of the youth and efforts being made to employ skilled labour in local as well as international markets.

Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk directed the ministry to chalk out a mechanism so that Article 25-A of the Constitution could be implemented in letter and spirit.
