Questions that made Haroon Bokhari squirm
MUZAFFARGARH: Former provincial minister Makhdoom Haroon Sultan Bokhari faced angry constituents who asked pointed questions about his performance during Friday’s corner meeting in NA-186.
A group of people told Jatoi tehsil’s politician that he enjoyed in the PML-N’s five-year regime whereas people had no jobs, businesses or basic facilities.
Mr Bokhari apologised to them and promised that he would not repeat the mistake (of ignoring them).
In earlier incidents, Ashiq Khan Gopang and Sardar Abdul Qayyum Jatoi (Muzaffargarh), Sardar Sikandar Hayat Bosan (Multan) and Sardar Jamal Khan Leghari (Dera Ghazi Khan) faced embarrassing situations when people questioned them about their prolonged absence from constituencies after winning elections.
Mr Bokhari also appeared before the deputy commissioner to explain his statement that voting for a woman is “haram”. The Election Commission of Pakistan had issued a notice to him. He is contesting election against his sister-in-law in NA-184 and his elder brother Basit Bokhari is in the run for PP-272.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner issued show-cause notices to six candidates who held meetings in a government school in violation of the ECP code of conduct.
