THE government seems to have failed in keeping the elections fair. The recent announcement of the deployment of army troops at the polling stations leaves no hope of preventing election-rigging.

Authorities patronising a few candidates is blatantly visible. There is a possibility people could be compelled to vote for a particular party. To make the elections free and fair the government should introduce online voting systems. Virtually everything is online now, why cannot the same be done for voting?
