MQM-P insists on more administrative units

MIRPURKHAS: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Sunday repeated the party’s demanded for the establishment of more provinces in the country, arguing that if major mainstream parties could agree on a ‘south Punjab’ province then how could they oppose a ‘south Sindh’ province.

Speaking a public meeting of his party in the Mohajir Colony ground late on Saturday evening, he said that MQM-P was demanding creation of more administrative units for better governance.

Dr Siddiqui also repeated the allegation of an undeclared ban having been imposed on his party to keep it away from the election process, and said that the caretaker dispensation was very active in removing MQM-P’s flag and banners but those of its rivals were not being touched.

He also complained that his party was given the mandatory permission for a public meeting in Latifabad (Hyderabad) too late and that too after strong protest by it.

The MQM-P leader said that after coming to power, the party would make the local government department independent. He claimed that the in the recent delimitations, certain rural areas were included in the urban areas to ensure defeat of MQM-P in these constituencies.

MQM-P candidate for PS-47 Mujibul Haq, Syed Amin Shah aka Maddo Shah and Jameel Qureshi also spoke.
