Achakzai stresses need for maximum healthcare
QUETTA: Governor of Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai has underlined the need to provide maximum health facilities and care to women who constitute half of the population of the province.
The ratio of mother and child death had reached an alarming level in the province, he said adding that there was a need to take immediate steps to arrest this situation.
Addressing a two-day National Scientific Conference, Mr Achakzai said that an awareness campaign regarding family planning and complexities arising during pregnancy should be launched soon.
Expressing concern over poor healthcare, he said, despite living in the 21st century, people in remote areas of the province were deprived of health facilities.
However, the government in the last five years had taken positive initiatives thus appeasing the health woes of the masses to some extent, Mr Achakzai said.
With the enlistment of 35,000 students in three universities, the female enrolment had reached a satisfactory level which guaranteed a better future for the coming generations, he said.
