Zardari, others declare poll expenditure
NAWABSHAH: Winners of National Assembly and provincial assembly seats, including Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and former leader of the opposition Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, submitted details of election expenditures to the returning officers concerned on Saturday.
According to documents submitted to RO Mehboob Ali Awan, Mr Zardari, MNA-elect from NA-213, spent Rs3.122 million on his election campaign.
Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah’s (NA-214) election expenses stood at Rs2.982m, Mr Zardari’s sister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho (PS-37) spent Rs1.742m on her election campaign, Chaudhry Tariq Masood Arain (PS-38) spent Rs1.398m, Ghulam Qadir Chandio (PS-39) spent Rs1.832m and Sardar Khan Mohammed Dahiri (PS-40) spent a total of Rs695,575 on the election campaign, according to documents.
SUKKUR: Senior PPP leader and former leader of the opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah (NA-206) spent Rs2.693m, his son Syed Farrukh Shah (PS-24) spent Rs838,934, son-in-law Syed Awais Qadir Shah (PS-23) spent Rs1.3m, Noman Islam Shaikh (NA-207) Rs3.8m and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah (PS-25) spent Rs1.980m on election campaigns, according to documents submitted to the RO concerned here on Saturday.
Election expenses of Jam Ikramullah Dharejo (PS-22) could not be ascertained.
Election Commission of Pakistan had permitted candidates to spend up to Rs4m in election drive for a National Assembly seat and up to Rs2m for a provincial assembly seat.
