Rain ruins Group ‘A’ ties as Peshawar maintain winning run
KARACHI: While heavy rains in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad completely washed out all four fourth-round Group ‘A’ fixtures of the PCB Inter-region Under-19 One-day Cup on Tuesday, Peshawar maintained their winning streak by sealing another win in Karachi.
Peshawar’s latest Group ‘B’ victims were Hyderabad at the UBL Sports Complex. The leaders, batting first, posted 261-8 in their 50 overs with skipper Mohammad Mohsin Khan scoring 91. The Pakistan Under-19 right-hander struck eight fours and four sixes in his 104-ball knock, while putting on 128 for the third wicket with Saqib Jamil (59 off 90 balls, eight boundaries).
Hyderabad, in reply, were all out for 154 in 43.1 overs.
Karachi Blues recorded a six-wicket victory after restricting Multan to 176-9 at the NBP Sports Complex. The architects were off-spinning all-rounder Mohammad Nafay (4-35 in 10 overs) and Ahsanullah, who blasted 13 fours and one six in making 91 from 97 deliveries as Karachi Blues won with 16 overs to spare.
Abbottabad skipper Khayyam Khan slammed an undefeated 81 (off 124 balls, 10 fours) while guiding his charges to a four-wicket win against Bahawalpur at the National Stadium.
An unfinished partnership of 96 between Ghulam Mustafa (61 off 94 balls, 11 boundaries) and Saad Ali Refai (42 off 44, six fours and one six) enabled Lahore Blues defeat Larkana by seven wickets at the TMC Ground.
Paceman Nasim Shah and off-spinner Mohammad Bilal Khan claimed three wickets each as Larkana folded up for just 125 in 40.3 overs.
