Three including minor girl killed in Swabi incidents

SWABI: Three people, including a minor girl, were killed and four injured in different incidents here on Wednesday, police said.

Registering an FIR in city police station, Kachkul Khan of Ghareebabad village alleged that Mohammad Arif, nephew of his sister, allegedly opened fire on her, killing the woman on the spot.

The cause of the killing was stated to be an altercation on some domestic issue.

In Karnal Sher Kili, Naveed Ali was killed and four others were injured when a motorcycle and a van collided. The cause of the incident was over-speeding by the deceased biker, who hailed from Tarakai village.

In Tordher village, a rickshaw hit and killed a minor girl identified as Zafran. The driver fled the area.

Meanwhile, the hearing of the murder case and confirmation of bail before arrest of ANP district president Ameer Rehman could not be held on Wednesday as the additional sessions judge was on leave. The next hearing has been fixed for August 27.

Mr Rehman and his bodyguard had allegedly opened fire on PTI workers on the polling day, killing one and injuring three others.

POWER LOADSHEDDING: People of Topi city and surrounding areas said on Wednesday they had been experiencing prolonged power suspensions for last three days. They said they were sustaining a nine-hour-long outage daily, and when the supply was restored it also played hide and seek. On Wednesday (today), they said the power supply was stopped at 7am and it remained suspended till 3pm.

They said Peshawar Electric Supply Company staffers did not attend the calls at the complaint office.

TRANSFORMER BURNT: A 200KV electricity transformer of Bhain region of Topi city was burnt due to overload. People said the transformer used to burn due to overload in every summer, adding they had requested the leaders of the political parties and Pesco officials to bring in another transformer to share the load, but to no avail.
