Boys outshine girls in SSC exams in Larkana

LARKANA: Boys outshone girls in annual examination for Secondary School Certificate Part-II (class-X) 2018 in science and general groups held under the aegis of Larkana Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), said a handout issued by the board on Saturday.

In the science group, Rabia Asim Pathan of Indus Girls College, Larkana, stood first with 780 marks, Sarang Abro of The City School, Larkana, and Ms Zainab Khatoon Mughal of Shams English School shared the second position by securing 775 marks each while third position went to Safi Ahmed Ali Mugheri of The City School with 774 marks.

In the general group, all top three positions went to boys. Khalilur Rehman Abbasi of Government Higher Secondary School, Larkana, secured first with 660 marks, Raja Sarfraz Ahmed Soomro of Government High School No-1, Mehar, was second with 643 marks and Sajid Ali Khoso of Government Mehran High School, Kandhkot, made it to third place with 641 marks, said the handout.

A total of 39,498 candidates had appeared in science group and of them only 1,943 students were placed in grade ‘A-1’ while 9,099 made it to ‘A’. As many as 15,735 secured ‘B’, 6,909 ‘C’, 756 ‘D’ and one candidate barely managed to get through with grade ‘E’. The result of 848 students was withheld on charges of using unfair means in examination, said the handout.

In general group, a total of 3,399 candidates had appeared in examination and none of them could clinch grade ‘A-1’. Only 79 students succeeded in getting ‘A’, 1,030 were placed in ‘B’, 1,319 ‘C’, 377 in ‘D’ and five could barely manage to get through with ‘E’ grade. The result of 332 candidates was withheld over use of unfair means, it said.
