Three TLP workers arrested

ISLAMABAD: Leaders and activists of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) were booked when they tried to reach Foreign Office in Red Zone on Saturday to protest against a blasphemous cartoon competition in the Netherlands by a politician.

The police arrested three protesters and produced them in the court of magistrate which sent them to jail on judicial remand.

Earlier, over 50 protesters gathered at Khayaban-i-Suhrawardy and tried to reach Red Zone.

The police tried to stop them near Federal Lodges by putting up razor wire.

But the protesters put up resistance and removed the blockade and tried to move towards Red Zone which led to altercation and arrest of three workers.

Somehow, the law enforcers succeeded in stopping them at the edge of the Red Zone on the road.

Senior officers of police and capital administration were also present on the occasion.

The administration official informed the protesters that gathering of five or more and use of loudspeakers were banned in the capital under section 144. But they refused to listen to them and insisted to go to the Foreign Office.
