Babak named ANP parliamentary leader in PA

PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party on Friday appointed MPA-elect Sardar Hussain Babak its parliamentary leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

A statement issued here said that a meeting of the MPAs-elect held at the party’s central secretariat discussed the post-election scenario and strategy for the maiden session of the provincial assembly.

The ANP has secured seven general seats in the provincial assembly.

The statement said that the MPAs-elect unanimously appointed Sardar Babak their parliamentary leader in the assembly.

Mr Babak hailing from Buner district had won election from PK-22. He retained his seat for the third consecutive period.

The statement said that ANP would continue its struggle both in and outside the parliament for strengthening the democratic institutions and protection of the rights of Pakhtuns.

It said that ANP would not compromise on fundamental issues of the province.
