LEAs quiz Chinese engineers held with arms

SAHIWAL: Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) are investigating eight Chinese engineers who were held with weapons at the gate of the coal-fired power plant on Saturday.

Sources confirmed the arrest of eight Chinese nationals who had weapons and gadgets in bags and security agencies were jointly investigating the matter.

The security personnel found a gun, a pistol, a pump action, cartridges, bullets and a telescope.

Meanwhile, police recovered a heavy quantity of illegal weapons from a car near Gulshan Noor area on Sahiwal Bypass on Sunday.

District police chief Gulam Mubashir Maikan told media that law enforcement agencies had acted on an intelligence report and recovered weapons hidden in different parts of the car.

He said police arrested notorious weapon dealer Ayyub Khan and his three accomplices Irfan Khan, Rizwan and Muhammad Shakeel. They all belonged to Noshera district of KP.

The DPO said police recovered 10 pump action guns, two rifles (223 bore), 294 pistols (30 bore), around 9,100 different kinds of bullets and magazines, and hard cash worth Rs1.47 million.
