Homage paid to educationist

HYDERABAD: Speakers paid homage to educationist Hyder Ali Leghari for his selfless service to society on his 10th death anniversary held at Sindh Museum under the aegis of Sain Hyder Ali Yadgar Committee on Saturday evening.

Sindhology director Ishaq Samejo said that Legahri had a towering personality. He had rendered great services for education and had an extensive knowledge of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s poetry. His personality was worthy of making a role model of, he said.

Sindh secretary of culture Ali Akbar Leghari said that Leghari was a man of vast knowledge. He had helped him read other philosophers and written a foreword to his book on philosophy, he said.

He said that Leghari used to mesmerise his ever growing audience with his grip on subject and convincing style. He had learnt a great deal from Leghari during his meetings. Leghari was so fond of philosophy that even during his last meeting he was talking about philosophy, he said.

Shaukat Ujjan, Prof Mithal Jiskani, Ustad Faiz Mohammad Nizamani, Ghulam Mustafa Leghari, Prof Allah Warayo Behan and others said that Leghari was always ready to transfer knowledge to people.

They said that he loved his students and looked after them, particularly those from rural parts of Sindh. During his tenure at training college, the institution had shown progress, they said.

They said that leading lights of left like Jam Saqi and Comrade Abdul Salam Bukhari used to stay with him when they had to go underground for political reasons, they said.
