Aamir Liaquat slams PM for ignoring MNAs from Karachi

KARACHI: TV host and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain on Tuesday accused the party leadership and Prime Minister Imran Khan of ignoring and sidelining the party’s legislators from Karachi.

During a talk show on a private news channel, Dr Hussain came up with a complaint that PM Khan did not consider anyone from the party’s elected representatives from Karachi for the office of National Assembly’s speaker and deputy speaker. He also wondered why the party was not focussing on the issues of the metropolis.

“They [Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf] have no movement in Karachi. The ‘winds of Imran Khan’ were blowing in Karachi which brought them success in certain constituencies, while in others certain personalities secured victory for them,” he said.

“I told Imran Khan we need to focus on forming a concrete movement for Karachi at ground level because local body elections are to take place after 17 months. If you want to win, you will have to work at the union council level.”

Later, PTI Senator Faisal Javed Khan talking to another news channel brushed aside concerns of Dr Hussain, saying that the Karachiites had voted for Mr Khan and not for any candidate. He also tried to convince him over the party policies about Karachi.
