Bilawal rejects PTI report on RTS fiasco
KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Tuesday rejected a report prepared by a committee of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf that blamed the National Database and Registration Authority for alleged breakdown of the Result Transmission System (RTS) on polling day and reiterated his demand for setting up of a parliamentary committee for a thorough investigation into the fiasco.
In a presentation last week to Prime Minister Imran Khan, PTI’s Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati suggested that Nadra chairman Usman Mobeen should be suspended for the disaster. Mr Khan asked Mr Swati to consult forensic experts before publishing the report.
In his strong reaction, Mr Bhutto-Zardari said the formation of a parliamentary committee was the only solution to the crisis. “We cannot accept a report prepared by the PTI’s own ‘fact-finding’ committee because PTI benefitted the most from the RTS crash.”
