KOHAT: An inquiry committee has found two officials of the Kohat tehsil municipal administration guilty of taking bribe from traders, and recommended punitive action against them.

A few months ago, the secretary local government, taking notice of the complaints of bribery against tax superintendent Farzand Ali Kyani, tehsil officer regulation Imtiaz Ahmed, recovery officer Bashir Ahmed and enforcement officer Waqas Ahmed, had suspended them and asked the deputy commissioner to initiate an inquiry against them.

The inquiry was conducted by assistant commissioner Gul Bano.

The officials had allegedly taken bribe of Rs80,000 from four people to erect kiosks in the Sasta Bazaar.

The assistant commissioner had ordered demolition of the kiosks because these were hindering entrance of people to the bazaar.

The affected people had complained that TMA officials had taken money from them for raising the kiosks and that demolition of their shops was illegal.

An official privy to the inquiry said AC Gul Bano had called the victims in her office where the suspended TMA officials were also present, who told her that Farzand Ali Kyani and Waqas Ahmed had taken money from them for erecting the kiosks.

THREE KILLED ON ROAD: Three people, including a woman, were killed and 27 others injured in separate road accidents on Wednesday.

One person was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a van on Rawalpindi road. He was identified as Saddam of Kamal Khel.

In another accident, two people, including a woman, were killed and 27 injuredwhen a passenger van going to Peshawar from Karak collided head-on with another van near Kohat Friendship Tunnel due to over-speeding.

The deceased included Baswar Bibi and Ayan of Togh Bala, Kohat. The injured were rushed to Zarghun Khel hospital of Darra Adamkhel and KDA Teaching Hospital, Kohat, by Rescue 1122 ambulances, while three of them were referred to Peshawar in critical condition. Thirteen of the injured belonged to a family hailing from Karak.

WSSC GETS VEHICLES: The Water Supply and Sanitation Company, Kohat, has got a new fleet of vehicles for keeping the city areas clean.

In this regard a ceremony was held at the company’s office in KDA town the other day.

Special adviser to the chief minister MPA Ziaullah Bangash, who was the chief guest, said on the occasion that the company was working beyond its capacity and its performance was satisfactory. He directed all relevant departments to help it make the city clean.

WSSC chief executive officer Arif Rauf said the company had received a compactor, two dumpers, four mechanical sweepers, four vehicles and three loader rickshaws.
