Building for community school sought
CHARSADDA: The students of community school in Osagai village, situated at about six kilometers from tehsil headquarters Tangi, are studying in the open as the school lacks its own building and is without any facilities such as drinking water and latrine.
Neither philanthropists nor local politicians bother to provide them with a tent or take up their problems with the authorities to provide facilities to the school.
The successive governments had declared education emergency and made tall claims of enrolling thousands of girls in schools, but no government bothered to establish a school in the far-flung area of Tangi tehsil.
Amna, the only lady teacher in the community school, told this correspondent that she belonged to the village and had got education in very difficult situation. She said that she was the only female who was literate in this village. She said she was teaching on Rs12,000 fixed salary at this school for the last 10 years.
Amna said there was no school in the six-kilometre radius of the village. She said that after primary the girls usually left education because there was no middle or high school in this village.
She said that presently there were 60 girl students in this community school. Amna demanded of the government to help her in constructing the building or open a government school in the area.
