Quetta water crisis
THIS is not the first time that a state of water emergency has been declared. What is lacking is the commitment of the government and the public to tackle the situation.
Expediting the Mangi dam project and providing water from tubewells in Dasht area may slightly improve the situation for a short period. On the other hand, any major project like bringing water from Pat feeder or Kachhi canal will take decades in planning and implementation.
The need of the hour is to initiate stringent water conservation measures to make the most of the little that we have.
