Quetta down Fata in Under-19 clash

KARACHI: A century opening stand between Abdul Wahid Sr and Latifullah laid the foundation of a fine seven-wicket win for Quetta against Fata on the last day of the fourth-round fixture in the PCB Inter-region Under-19 three-day tournament here on Saturday.

After dismissing Fata for 187 in the second innings with slow left-armer Junaid Khan picking up his second five-for in the Group ‘A’ match, Quetta reached 225-3 to claim six points.

Wahid ended up scoring a painstaking 84 (202 balls, six boundaries) in 251 minutes while Latifullah contributed a brisk 83-ball 72 with 10 fours and one six.

Dera Murad Jamali regained top place in Group ‘A’ when they beat Abbottabad by four wickets at the NBP Sports Complex.

Hosts Azad Jammu Kashmir extended Lahore Whites’ misery with a three-wicket success in the Group ‘C’ tie at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium

Islamabad clinched a crushing innings and 145-run win over the hapless Hyderabad in the Group ‘B’ encounter at the National Ground in the federal capital after the visitors lost the remaining four wickets for just eight runs.

Rawalpindi handed Larkana an innings and 84-run drubbing at the Marghazar Cricket Ground with paceman Shiraz Khan starring with figures of 8-39 in 18.5 overs as Larkana folded up for 143.
