Tariq sends Abbottabad reeling with 7-25

KARACHI: Slow left-armer Tariq Khan’s dream run continued in the PCB Inter-region Under-19 three-day tournament here on Monday as he claimed seven wickets for 25 runs to help Karachi Blues dismiss Abbottabad for 64 at the start of the fifth and final round of matches.

Abbottabad’s decision to bat first at the UBL Sports Complex badly backfired as they were all out in just 36.5 overs.

Karachi Blues failed to take advantage of the situation when they were also bowled out for 164, while taking a lead of exactly 100 on the first innings. Ahsanullah scored 53.

The visitors were 21 without loss in their second innings when stumps were drawn for the day.

Group ‘A’ leaders Dera Murad Jamali collected 271 in their first innings against Quetta at the TMC Ground with Shoaib Ahmed contributing 109 off 149 balls with eight fours and three sixes.

Mohammad Ibrahim capture 5-31 bef­ore Quetta ended the day at 22-0 in 10 overs.

Naved Ahmed struck 136 from 215 balls (11 fours and two sixes) to help Bahawalpur post 240 all out against Hyderabad at the National Ground in Islamabad. Hyderabad reached 16-1 in reply.

Mohammad Basit also scored 136 (216 balls, 13 fours and one six) while guiding Multan to 267 all out before Fata replied with 39-2 at the NBP Sports Complex.

Faisalabad raised their prospects of reaching the triangular stage as they collected 142-2 after bowling out Azad Jammu Kashmir for 152 at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium. Asim Iqbal starred with figures of 5-57.
