Four siblings die in road accident

ISLAMABAD: Four siblings were killed and their mother critically injured in a road accident on Tuesday, the police said.

The family were trying to cross the Expressway near Khanna when they were hit by a vehicle.

Mobeen Akram, a resident of Jamshaid Colony on Dr Qadir Khan Road, and her four children had come over to her parents’ house on Kuri Road, the police said.

They were returning home and disembarked from a passenger vehicle at Khanna. Ms Akram was carrying the youngest and the other three children held hands while they attempted to cross the Expressway. A vehicle coming from the Faizabad side hit them, the driver of which managed to escape.

They were moved to the hospital where 10-year-old Noor Fatima, five-year-old Zainab and two-year-old Ahmed Hasnain were pronounced dead. Ms Akram and her seven-year-old son Ali Hasnain were given medical assistance and were kept under observation.

However, Ali Hasnain later died and Ms Akram is said to be in critical condition.

The police registered a case against the unidentified driver based on a complaint by Ms Akram’s husband, Waseem Habib, and are trying to track down and arrest him.
