PCB, BCCI officials meet in Dubai

DUBAI: Four key officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Indian cricket board (BCCI) met here for more than an hour after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) board meeting on Saturday.

Apparently, there was no discussion about the resumption of ties between the two countries in the Board meeting which mainly discussed the distribution of the ACC funds to the members.

The meeting, which was supposed to have discussed the bilateral series between India and Pakistan, was attended by new PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and COO Shubhan Ahmed as well as Amitabh Chaudhary (BCCI’s acting secretary) and Rahul Johri (the CEO).

However, both parties remained tight-lipped on the outcome of the meeting and whether any compromise formula has been reached ahead of the ICC’s dispute committee hearing, to be held here early next month.

Interestingly, none of the Board members from either side raised the issues pertaining to the scheduling of the Asia Cup matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi although skippers of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh teams have expressed their displeasure over the the back-to back matches being held in the Asia Cup.

Atit Marshal, the outgoing chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, introduced their new president Azizullah Fazli to the delegates attending the Board meeting.

The date for the next ACC meeting, set to be held in Lahore in November, is yet to be finalised.
