Women dept officers to get training, says minister

HYDERABAD: Sindh Women Development Minis­ter Shehla Raza has said that officers of her department would be imparted training so that they are aware of their responsibilities and functions.

She directed officers to get details of the women languishing in prison as well as those facing domestic violence and make sure that such women in distress got relief.

The minister was speaking to reporters at the women complaint cell in the Regio­nal Directorate of Labour Qasimabad on Wednesday.

She said the women develop­ment department was using all its resources to make sure that women’s rights were not violated. She asked officers of the department to coordinate with police and administration officials in case of any emergency and get correct information about any case.

She said women often fell prey to psychological issues for which it was necessary that in such cases women sought counselling and proper therapy to resolve their issues on their own.

She said that if there was legal aspect of a case involving a woman, such cases should be reported to court through law officers.

She also visited office of the social welfare department and women prison. She said that a provincial complaint cell would be established to address problems confronting women in Sindh.
