National hockey trials shifted to Karachi: PHF
LAHORE: The two-day trials to select the national squad for the Asian Champions Trophy will be held from Oct 11 in Karachi, not in Lahore, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) announced on Thursday.
“The trials have been shifted [from Lahore] to Karachi owing to [some] unavoidable circumstances,” said a PHF spokesman while talking to APP here on Thursday.
An 18-member Pakistan team will take part in the Asian Champions Trophy to be staged in Muscat from Oct 18 to 28. The team will leaves for Oman on Oct 14
The trials will be watched by the Islahuddin Siddiqi-led national selection committee with Ayaz Mehmood, Musadaq Hussain and Qasim Khan as its members.
PHF president retired Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and secretary Shahbaz Ahmad will also witness the trials.
The ongoing training camp in Lahore preparing the players for the Trophy here ends on Oct 6.
After a three-day break, the players will reassemble in Karachi on Oct 9 and will report to camp commandant and former Pakistan captain Hasan Sardar under whom they will undergo training till the commencement of the trials.
