World Teachers’ Day: Beacons of knowledge
The World Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year internationally on October 5, to acknowledge and thank teachers for their role and contribution in our academic, intellectual and moral upbringings.
Teachers not only teach, but also inspire and encourage students to be the best they can be. On this day, the importance of this prestigious profession is highlighted. A teacher is one who shapes their students’ lives through his or her knowledge, patience, love and care.
Although, teachers play a dynamic role in helping students reach their destinations. They serve as the real light in every student’s life as they help students find their paths in life. Behind every successful person is a passionate and hard-working teacher as they want their students to excel in life.
A good teacher should have a loving and caring nature, they should have the ability to embolden the students in any field. Over and above, a teacher is someone who spends his or her whole life in giving quality education to his/her students.
Teachers try their best to bring all the students on the right track by motivating them positively towards their studies. When a teacher becomes friendly in class, students pay more attention, producing better results. And good teachers leave a good impression on their students.
William Arthur, one of the most quoted American writers explains, “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
Since a teacher’s profession is considered as the best and ideal profession in the world, a good teacher never loses patience and teaches every student according to the student’s level of understanding and capacity.
In addition, a teacher is considered to be the builder of a good nation. Nevertheless, teachers are the backbones of every nation; without teachers, no country can prosper and sustain its prosperity and freedom, for they are the ones who always talk about rights, justice and freedom. In this world, there are a number of brilliant personalities who all owe their knowledge and balanced upbringings to their teachers.
I was also lucky enough to have good teachers who changed my life and showed me the right way leading to my destination. Good teachers are also the best friends of their students who help them deciding the true path in their life.
A.P.J Abdul Kalam remarked, “If a country is to be corruption-free and a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher.”
To conclude, sadly in Pakistan there is no respect and value of teachers. Teachers assist in making doctors, commissioners, engineers, etc., but still they themselves get fewer honours than the professions they teach.
Education is considered as the most powerful weapon of life to attain victory and success, but without a good teacher, a person remains unsuccessful in every field.
Happy Teacher’s Day!
