MITHI: Protesting workers of reverse osmosis plants closed down over 450 plants across Thar to press for release of four-month salary.

The plants’ closure caused severe water crisis in the towns as well as villages, forcing them to fall back on the brackish and often toxic water of wells.

The unpaid workers after having received no response from the functionaries concerned closed down all the plants on Friday.

Thar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Asif Jameel confirmed closure of the plants and said that high-ups had already been informed of the situation.
