HYDERABAD: Setting up Sindhi dept at BU discussed
HYDERABAD, June 15: A delegation of the Sindhi Language Authority held an informal meeting with the vice-chancellor of the Balochistan University on Tuesday and discussed establishment of a department of Sindhi at the university. The delegation was led by SLA secretary Ghulam Nabi Buledi and its members included Prof Ghulam Hussain Sohu, Prof Anwar Sagar Kandhero and Khalid Azad.
BU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ghulam Mohammad Taj was assisted by Balochistan Study Centre director Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Brahivi Academy secretary Mir Salahuddin Mengal and others.
It was agreed that initially a lecturer in Sindhi would be appointed at the Balochistan University and later establishment of a Sindhi department would be considered at the university.
The SLA was asked to recommend a panel of three lecturers.
It was also decided that the syllabus for teaching Sindhi at the Balochistan University would be prepared by the SLA.
On this occasion, the vice-chancellor purchased 100 copies of a Sindh-Brahivi dictionary published by the SLA.
FELLOWSHIP: Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association leaders Prof Sher Khan Selro and Prof Abdul Karim on Tuesday met University of Sindh’s graduate studies director Dr Raees Ahmad to discuss the grant of fellowship to lecturers.
It was agreed that the university would grant fellowships to teachers of affiliated colleges.
The SPLA leaders praised faculty of social sciences dean Dr Rafia Shaikh for her efforts for the grant of fellowships.

June 20.
