NHA auctions nine vehicles for Rs13.7m
ABBOTTABAD: The National Highway Authority auctioned its nine vehicles here on Friday fetching Rs13.7 million.
The auction was held at the NHA general manager’s office and was supervised by senior officials of the authority.
The officials said the vehicles were auctioned in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s austerity policy.
They said the NHA had offered 215 vehicles for auction across the country and of them, 62 were auctioned at the headquarters and nine in Abbottabad.
The officials said the exercise would continue until all extra vehicles were auctioned.
WOMEN PROTECTION DESKS: Abbottabad district police officer Abbas Majeed Marwat on Friday said the special desks established in police stations would help address problems of women and children.
He called for the creation of public awareness of the women and children protection desks.
The DPO was addressing a one-day orientation seminar arranged for moharrars of the police stations of Abbottabad district here.
Additional SP Sonia Shamroz, women and children protection desk head DSP Nazia Noreen, lawyer Rabia Sultana and members of the dispute resolution committee briefed participants about the ways and means to settle complaints of women and children, especially about land disputes.
They also highlighted the salient features of the Child Protection Act and other laws on the women’s rights and said the AC-I had been tasked with hearing the cases of women and children’s desk, while progress of the desk would be examined on fortnightly basis.
