Chitral students get scholarships
CHITRAL: Scholarships worth Rs200,000 were distributed among the position-holders of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations in Chitral district in a function here on Saturday.
District education officer Ihsanul Haq gave away the scholarships and Iqra Award to the top students. The scholarship money was given by Qari Faizullah, a philanthropist and administrator of Karachi-based Jamia Imam Mohammad.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Haq praised the generosity of Qari Faizullah who had been giving scholarships to the brilliant students in Chitral since 2003. He said that the scholarship had induced a competition among the students since its inception and the affluent people should follow this model and contribute to the cause of education by patronising talented students.
A scholarship of Rs40,000 each was secured by Farjad Owais of Broze Public School and Shabbir Hassan of Government High School, Kushum; Rs30,000 each by Huma Batool of Frontier Corps Public School and Usmanuddin of Government High School Melp; and Rs20,000 each by Andaleeb Younusof Frontier Corps Public School and Saifullah of Government High School, Sheshi Koh. A Kalash student Leena Sheragli of the Langland’s School was also given a special scholarship.
