CHITRAL: MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali has said that the patients needing eye treatment in Chitral have been facing problems because the post of eye specialist in DHQ hospital has been vacant for the last three years.

He appreciated the three-day free eye camp arranged in Chitral by Ummah Welfare Trust wherein a team of eye specialists from Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar, conducted eye surgeries of 170 persons and examined 1,580 patients in the outpatient department of DHQ hospital.

The field officer, Iftikhar Ahmed, told mediapersons here the other day that free medicines and glasses were provided to the patients coming from lower parts of Chitral. He said that the doctors operated upon patients even during nights because of their rush. He said that a two-day eye camp will also be held at the civil hospital, Booni, on Saturday (today) and Sunday.

SCHOOL ENROLMENT: Speakers at a session of District Education Forum held by Take a Child to School (TACS) project of Sarhad Rural Support Programme said that concerted efforts of volunteers and society could help out the education department to achieve the goal of hundred per cent enrolment.

The session was attended by district education officer Hafiz Noorullah, DEO (female) Haleema Bibi, TACS project coordinator Rahmat Wali and the project volunteers who had been working as members of the task forces helping in identification of out-of-school children and persuading the parents to enrol them.

It was stated that initially seven union councils had been included in the project, which will be gradually extended to all other parts of the district to ensure enrolment of all the children.
