Heatwave leaves six dead in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL, June 19: Six people died from heatwave here during the last 24 hours, the DHQ hospital sources said. They were identified as Muhammad Latif (70) of Chak 105/7-R, Ghulam Farid (40) of Mokal Colony, Nawab Din (65) of Chichawatni, Adeel of Mirdad Muafi, girl Allah Muafi (13) of Kot Khadim Ali Shah and Sardaran (80) of Insargali.

Meanwhile, shopkeepers have reportedly increased the price of ice from Re1 per kilogram to Rs5 with the rise in temperature.

TWO ROBBERIES: Dacoits on Saturday night looted cash and valuables amounting to Rs348,000 in two hits.

Reports said three dacoits entered the house of Rana Muhammad Akram at Chak 62/4-R and made off with cash and ornaments worth Rs195,000.

Seven gangsters took away cash, ornaments and a licenced gun to the tune of Rs153,000 from Lalazar Colony.

The police have registered separate cases with no arrest.
