Siraj criticises govt for seeking loans

BUNER: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said that government is seeking alms from other countries instead of relying on own resources.

He was addressing a ceremony held in Swari on Tuesday in connection with the oath taking of newly-elected district chief of JI Mohammad Haleem Bacha.

The JI chief alleged that Prime Minister Imran Khan was visiting other countries to collect funds. “It is ‘Naya Pakistan’ to carry begging bowl to seek alms from other countries,” he questioned.

He said besides sending requests to the International Monitory Funds and World Bank for loans, the PTI government was seeking loans from China, Saudi Arabia and other countries.

He said that the country was on verge of collapse within 90 days of PTI rule. He said that prices of daily use items were increased manifold.

Mr Siraj asked JI workers to devote their lives for strengthening the party by spreading its message among people.

“Islam is the sole true religion and its system covers all aspects of life from person to family, community, administration, justice and foreign affairs,” he added.

He said that enforcement of Islamic system was the sole solution to all the problems.

He said that Muslims of the country must expedite efforts to enforce Sharia laws through parliamentary democracy.

Speaking on the occasion, Haleem Bacha said that efforts would be made to educate JI activists on the party policies. He said that they would struggle to strengthen the party in the district.

SENTENCE: The court of additional district and sessions judge-III, Aziz Mohammad, on Tuesday awarded death sentence to an accused in a murder case.

The court also imposed fine of Rs300,000 on the accused, Fisal, for killing Ghazi Mohammad, an Afghan refugee. However, four other suspects in the case identified as Yaar Mohammad, Nisar, Khan Jee and Baday were acquitted by the court.

Meanwhile, the court awarded life term sentence to Imran for smuggling hashish.
