Nixor College, Lyceum School win basketball titles

KARACHI: Nixor College beat Bahria College Nore 1 (A-levels) 61-28 in the high-scoring final of boys’ category of All-Karachi Hashmatullah Lodhi inter-school basketball tournament organized by Nasir Basketball Academy in collaboration with KBBA here at the Arambagh Courts on Wednesday.

For the winners, the leading scorers were Muhammad Furqan (18 points), Ruhaib Das (12 points), and Raaif Nawaz (10 points) while for the runners-up team, Zain Shahid scored (8 points), and Ubaidur Rehman and Jazim scored (6) and (2 points) respectively.

In the girls’ event, Lyceum School won the title by outclassing Indus Academy 24-11.

Ayesha Ijlal (15 points) was the main scorer while Shahama (4 points) and Maira 3 points also contributed their share. For the runners-up team, Sara Ladiwala could score (6 points), and Aifa Iman (4 points).

In O’Levels Boys category final, The City School (PAF) lift the trophy after beating Habib Public School in a closely-fought final 23-20. Hamza Bukhari (14 points led the team to victory while for the runners up team; Ebad Ali was the main scorer with 11 points.

In girls’ event, The City School (DK) won the title by beating Indus Academy 22-05 in a one-sided contest. Fajar (12) and Aamna Raza (8 points) were the main scorers.

As many as twenty leading schools and colleges of the city featured in the 15-day event.

NED Vice Chancellor Dr Sarosh Lodhi was the chief guest on the occasion and gave trophies and cash prizes to winners and runners teams. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest suggested to the organizers to hold an inter-university Hahmatullah Lodhi basketball tournament at NED ground in January.
