PIA restores flights to Muscat, Sharjah

KARACHI: In an attempt to expand its business, the Pakistan International Airlines has announced restoration of flights to Muscat and Sharjah from two more cities.

The flight operation on the two routes has remained suspended for more than a year.

According to a PIA statement, the operation on the Lahore-Muscat and Sialkot-Sharjah routes would begin from Nov 17 (today) and Nov 20, respectively.

It said PIA would operate flights every Saturday and Sunday on the Lahore-Muscat route.

With the introduction of new flights, the national carrier will have a total of nine flights to Muscat operating from Peshawar, Turbat and Gwadar.

Likewise, PIA would operate flights on the Sialkot-Sharjah route every Tuesday and Friday. The airline will have five flights per week, including three from Turbat.

PIA president and CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik said the turnaround and revival of the national flag carrier was now necessary and the government was extending all-out support in this regard.

He directed the commercial department for manifesting an aggressive strategy to enhance PIA’s access in market and revenue.

The PIA chief urged the officials to put in their best to enhance the service standards to boost sales.
