PHC Bar seeks ‘fair’ probe into Tahir Dawar’s murder
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court Bar Association on Tuesday condemned the murder of Superintendent of Police Tahir Khan Dawar and demanded of the government to conduct fair investigation into his brutal killing.
A general body meeting of the association was held here which unanimously passed a resolution condemning the killing of SP Tahir Dawar.
The meeting unanimously demanded that the real culprits of the killing should be brought before public and awarded exemplary punishment.
The meeting was addressed by several members of the association who stated that the kidnapping and subsequent killing of SP Tahir Dawar exposed the inefficiency of the state security apparatus.
Senor advocate Abdul Lateef Afridi said that the militants had been running training camps in different areas and no citizen was safe.
He said it was unfortunate that any person who raises question about the security situation in the country was dubbed as foreign agent. He said that in the American led war on terror the Pashtuns had given more sacrifices and so far around 200,000 Pashtuns had been killed in this war.
Advocate Ghulam Nabi Khan also criticised the government for not acting swiftly after the kidnapping of SP Tahir Dawar. He said that if immediate steps had been taken the life of Tahir Dawar could have been saved.
PHCBA’s Secretary General Yasir Khattak said that it was the duty of the government to conduct an impartial and fair investigation and brought to book the perpetrators of this heinous offence.
