Chinese volunteer to donate for heirs of martyred policemen

KARACHI: The Chinese people on Sunday volunteered to make donations for the families of the Sindh police officials, ASI Ashraf Dawood and police constable Amir Khan, who laid down their lives while guarding the Chinese consulate in Clifton during the recent gun-and-grenade attack.

The martyred officials belonged to the foreign security cell, which has been established by police for the protection of Chinese nationals.

Lijian Zhao, the deputy chief of mission of Chinese embassy in Pakistan, on Sunday issued a statement on Twitter saying, “[the] Chinese donations for Pakistan police have shown that China-Pakistan friendship is higher than mountains and deeper than the sea.

“The friendship has never been empty talks, but deeply imprinted in hearts of Chinese and Pakistani people,” he tweeted.

“China & Pakistan are iron brothers. This is a people to people friendship. Besides awards from govts, Chinese people volunteered to make donations for the families of 2 Sindh policemen…who sacrificed lives for protection of Chinese Consulate General in Karachi.”

The deputy chief of mission of the Chinese embassy also changed the background of his Twitter profile, posting the photos of the martyred police officials. He tweeted, “To pay respect to Sindh Police and LEAs of Pakistan, I changed my [Twitter profile] background in memory of [the] two brave policemen.”
