Two PTM lawmakers stopped from flying to Dubai

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday stopped two members of the National Assembly belonging to the Pakhtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) from travelling to Dubai and shifted them to its headquarters on Friday.

Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir along with five other people were going to Dubai to attend a cultural function there when they were stopped at the Bacha Khan International Airport. They were informed that their names were on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Talking to reporters at the airport, Mr Dawar said they were told that their names were on the ECL because of a public meeting held in Swabi some time ago.

The MNA said they had already got bail in that case and challenged it in a court of law.

Mohammad Bilal, a PTM activist accompanying the MNAs, told Dawn that the two lawmakers had been shifted to the FIA’s Hayatabad headquarters.

He said they had been informed that both would be later shifted to the Swabi police station.

An FIA official said the two were wanted to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in some cases and that’s why they were stopped from flying to Dubai.
