Five injured in Turbat cylinder blast die

GWADAR: Five more people who sustained injuries in a cylinder blast in Turbat two days ago died on Friday. The blast killed a child on Wednesday.

The five people were under treatment in a private hospital in Karachi.

According to sources in the hospital, they were identified as Abdul Malik, Murad Khatoon, Mohammad Ayub, Merajuddin, Rafiya and Mohammad Waris.

On Wednesday, a child was killed and 20 people sustained injuries after a gas cylinder exploded inside a shop near Turbat Park Hotel.

According to the Makran division’s commissioner, the blast sparked a blaze in the shop. The fire also engulfed a school van parked nearby.

The injured were taken to the Teaching Hospital, said the commissioner, adding that one of the children succumbed to his wounds. He said five of the severely injured were transferred to Karachi for treatment.

Soon after the incident, fire fighters of the municipal corporation and personnel of Frontier Corps and Pakistan Navy rushed to area and brought the fire under control.

A state of emergency was imposed in all Turbat hospitals after the incident.

Balochistan Chief Min­ister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has expressed sorrow over the incident and directed the local administration to provide the best possible treatment to the injured.

The chief minister also ordered that those severely injured be transferred to Karachi immediately, and announced that their treatment cost would be borne by the provincial government.
