KPRA launches generic invoice monitoring system

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has launched generic invoice monitoring system (GIMS) to help in registration and collection of all sales tax-related businesses in the province.

A statement issued here on Wednesday said the software was developed by KPRA in coordination with KP-IT Board and Code for Pakistan under KP Fellowship Programme.

Director General KPRA Mohammad Tahir Orakzai said that GIMS was an automatic monitoring system.

He said using GIMS the KPRA would be able to identify the exact amount of sales tax on services based on the actual sales of the taxpayer.

He said the authority was working on plans to broaden its tax base while extending its outreach and providing taxpayers with better facilities.

He said they were also working on the full digitalisation of KPRA as this was the only way to control corruption, and hoped to move towards negative list for sales tax on services in order to simplify understanding and compliance of the law and eliminate irregularities.

Mr Orakzai explained that under the first phase GIMS would be deployed in Peshawar region to receive actual invoices of the consumers and would be gradually extended across KP for all service providers.
