Woman pines for missing child

MUZAFFARGARH: Police have failed to recover a five-year-old child who had gone missing from Rohallanwali area nine months ago.

Faizan, a student of Class 1, went to his school as usual but did not return. The family suspected involvement of two relatives and sought help of police who registered a case against the nominated persons a week after the incident. The suspects, however, got pre-arrest bail but police did not arrest them even after dismissal of their plea at a later stage.

Faizan’s mother Asma Bibi claims she has lost her eyesight due to the tragedy. She says the suspects are threatening them with dire consequences for pursuing the case. She has appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan and senior police functionaries to order action against the officials who have failed to arrest the suspects and recover the child.

DPO’s Public Relations Officer Muhammad Bilal told Dawn that police were making all possible efforts to trace the child. He said welfare organisations had been asked to assist police.
