Action sought against Kohat nazim for ‘insulting’ doctors

KOHAT: The Insaf Doctors Forum (IDF), which is affiliated with PTI, has assailed the insult and harassment of its panel officers by the district nazim at the behest of their rivals.

The concern was aired at a meeting of the forum chaired by its Kohat district president Dr Ziauddin.

They took strong notice of the insult of head of Togh Bala basic health unit Dr Usman by district nazim Naseem Afridi, and putting undue pressure on the district health officer for the doctor’s transfer.

They said the district nazim, who was also from PTI, was creating hurdles in the way of performance of duties of IDF and health officials. They asked the chief minister, health minister and Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the excesses of the district nazim.

INDUSTRIAL ESTATE: The assistant director, small industrial estate, has taken the responsibilities of overlooking the early completion of work on factories within stipulated time. A statement issued on Wednesday said AD Tahir Khattak was himself monitoring the construction work on the factories which had not been completed in decades.

He said work on seven factories had been completed and was under progress on 29 more. He said businessmen would be encouraged to establish more industries.

INCREASE IN HOSPITAL STAFF SOUGHT: The district paramedics association has demanded increase in the staff for the emergencies of Liaquat Memorial Hospital (LMH) and KDA teaching hospital.

The association’s president Rashid Bokhari made the demand while chairing a general body meeting, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.

He said due to shortage of dispensers in LMH the attendants of patients fought with paramedics every now and then. He said it was not possible for three dispensers to control the whole emergency during night shift. He added the under training staff had to be called which was inexperienced and regularly created trouble. He said the LMH emergency had not been given full status on the pretext that two facilities could not work in the same city.

He said after the functioning of KDA hospital, both were declared district cadre facilities and enjoyed the same name of district hospitals due to which the LMH’s emergency was closed. But on the demand of MPs and the people, its name was changed to women and children hospital as it was in close proximity to the Kohat city and Hangu, Bannu and Rawalpidni roads’ population.
