Wonder Craft: Sock penguin

Stuffed toys always look cute and adorable, let’s accept the fact that we love holding and decorating them in our house. Therefore, today we have chosen to make a stuffed little penguin and amazingly, this cute little fellow will cost you almost nothing! Why? Because we will be making it from a black old or worn out sock.

Things you need:

  1. One old black sock

  2. One colourful sock (to make the beanie and scarf muffler)

  3. A piece of white foam or felt sheet

  4. A piece of orange felt sheet (four-inches)

  5. White glue

  6. Pencil

  7. Scissors

  8. Two rubber bands

  9. Cotton wool/rice/ or scrapes of clothes (to stuff the penguin with)

Directions:

  1. Cut the black sock from the heel area, as shown in pictures 2 and 3. The heel part will be the head of the penguin.

  2. Insert wool inside the sock. Stuff it tight, pictures 4 and 5.

  3. Leaving just one inch from the top, tie a rubber band, picture 6.

  4. Draw a heart (for the face) and an oval shape (for the body) according to the size of the sock you have on the white felt sheet and cut it out, picture 7.

  5. Paste the heart and oval shapes on the sock accordingly, picture 8.

  6. From the orange felt piece, cut a ‘v’ shape and paste it on the mouth area, picture 9.

  7. Cut the feet from the remaining orange felt according to the size of your penguin, as in picture 10.

  8. To separate the head from the body, tie a rubber band. Our penguin is almost ready. We now have to make the scarf and the beanie from the colourful sock.

  9. Cut the elastic part from the colourful sock and one side vertically from it, picture 11.

  10. Make a slit in the vertical part of the sock, picture 12.

  11. Insert the ring-shaped elastic part into the neck of the penguin and then the vertical piece, picture 13.

  12. Lastly, glue the feet under the body. Our little cute penguin is ready!
