Captain Marvel’s cat is not what you think!

The new Captain Marvel trailer is full of awesome moments, but there is one bit where the adjective “adorable” is more appropriate — of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury cuddling with an adorable cat while on a mission with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers.

But it’s not a cat, assuming that it’s the character we think it is from Captain Marvel comics. It’s likely the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Chewie, Carol’s pet that, in Kelly Sue DeConnick and Jamie McKelvie’s beloved series, is revealed to not be the feline it appears to be, but instead an alien known as a Flerken.

Flerkens look exactly like cats, but they are very different. The most fascinating thing about them is that they contain pocket dimensions inside their mouths, which allows them to store an infinite amount of material and achieve dimensional travel. They also have a set of pink tentacles that can emerge when it is under attack. The movie is set to hit theatres on March 8, 2019 and we’ll definitely be keeping our eye out for more clues, so stay tuned!

Sandra Bullock films in blindfolds

In the new Netflix thriller Bird Box, Sandra Bullock and Trevante Rhodes play two of only a handful of people who survive an apocalyptic phenomenon that causes people to commit suicide at the sight of a mysterious presence. The survivors, then, wear blindfolds when venturing outside to avoid peering at the life-threatening supernatural force.

“For half of the film we were blindfolded, and we asked for that to be so,” Bullock disclosed at the film’s Los Angeles press day.

“They were navigating insane landscapes blindfolded,” remarked director Susanne Bier. “They were taught a little bit by someone who was like an expert on teaching blind people.”

Asked if they were ever afraid they were going to fall on their faces, Bullock shot back: “I did. And I clipped the camera a couple times. It was no one’s fault but my own.”

Mortensen also won the prize for Best Actor for his role in the movie. Lady Gaga earned the Best Actress honour for her performance in the musical A Star is Born and her co-stars Bradley Cooper and Sam Elliott won the awards for Best Director and Best Supporting Actor respectively.

Regina King was voted Best Supporting Actress for her work in If Beale Street Could Talk and the film’s writer-director Barry Jenkins was rewarded in the Best Adapted Screenplay category. The cast of Crazy Rich Asians, including Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, and Michelle Yeoh, was selected Best Ensemble. The Incredibles 2 was chosen Best Animated Film.
